LGBTQ wedding photography – Rex & Arran

Here we go. Another COVID wedding photography story. And its a LGBTQ wedding photography story. And oddly a Dog wedding photography story.

Rex and Aaron had to postpone their march 2021 wedding to October 2021, due to the pandemic and in the run up to the wedding, we’d spoken numerous times about what they were looking for from their wedding.

And to say these two are eccentric, eclectic and fabulous is a complete understatement.

It’s hard for me to say exactly what drew me to them. Was it Rex’s flamboyant outgoing demeanour? Was it Arran’s straight down the line doctor who look alike vibe? I love a LGBTQ wedding photography shoot, and this one didn’t disappoint.

Or was it the fact that we’re getting married at Pennhurst Palace, the scene for some of the filming from the movie The Princess Bride?

Having met me at the Birmingham NEC wedding show, they were drawn to my colourful imagery.

My photos were as colourful as they are themselves, and they made it clear to me right from the start that they were looking for some very alternative and deeply personal photography from their wedding day.

The day started like any other with some bridal prep with Rex and her amazing gang of wedding squad. And then I zoomed over to the palace, hooking up with arran and his guys, all of them good dudes.

There was such a good energy about the wedding, that I was literally buzzing. Rex’s arrival didn’t disappoint in a purple gown.

Everybody just looked gobsmacked when she walked into the room for the marriage ceremony.

The palace itself was the perfect backdrop for their love story. I can’t imagine a more appropriate location or setting for their wedding. After the ceremony, the couple walked out to a tunnel of bubbles rather than confetti. And it was just fantastic.

Trust this couple not to go down the conventional route and it really worked for them, the palace itself has lots of little gardens, miniature lakes and water features that were able to capture some very beautiful and personal imagery. The couples lovely dogs arrived, and we were able to get some amazing dog wedding photography.

And one of my favourite images is that of the couple with their bridal party or their bride squad, with lots of props from Doctor Who Harry Potter and various sci fi fantasy franchises, all getting together and having the time of their lives.

This wedding for me sums up exactly what every wedding couples should aspire to get from their wedding day. It was authentic, beautiful, and timeless.

I have so much love and respect for Rex and Aaron. That even writing this blog post put a smile on my face
