Karen & Dave – Bonkers Teachers!

So, this was a very odd wedding for me (marketing wise), as I actually hadn’t met the couple (Karen & Dave) before the big day, as the couple lived the other side of the country, and had found me on Facebook and quickly booked me to snap me up!

They had booked DeVere Tortworth Court, (Tortworth, Wotton Under Edge GL12 8HH) and they were after some really creative Wedding Photography for their soecial day and loved my documentary style approach – so it was a great match that we’d end up working together as they are literally BONKERS!

We were blessed with some amazing weather during their day, and the ceremony and reception was super emotional in the venue’s orangery. Karen & Dave were in tears of laughter for various bits of it, and whilst I felt really naughty taking photos, but I couldn’t stop – the content was just too good.

The couple had met at school (as they are teachers), and to say that they had a VERY inappropriate sense of humour would be an understatement. You literally don’t want to know what their “pet” name for each other was… But I’ll give you a hint… its four letters long and begins with a “C”!

The couple were very at ease during the day, laughing and joking with friends and family, and so when it came to their portraits, it was super easy as the couple didn’t want to do anything too posed. I was able to convince to try a few dynamic images to compliment the more candid portraits and thankfully they ended up loving them! I love shooting these alternative kinds of portraits that challenge my couple’s perceptions, and I’m super happy with the results!

The rest of the wedding was in my usual favourite style of relaxed; which meant that I could bring out some well seen observational wedding photography, and the couple LOVE it! The couple had structured their day so there was a lot of drinks reception time, giving me loads of opportunity to sneak around like a photo ninja and grab photography of people just being themselves, completely unnoticed.

I’m really happy with the images that I captured with Dave and the lads pre ceremony (the ushers were the husbands of the bridesmaids). Unposed, fun with great quality of expression, and these photos contrast nicely with the pre ceremony images I caught with Karen.

The evening portraits I captured with the couple I’m super doper proud off. The couple didn’t want to go through the routine of a first dance, so it was lovely being able to create something where they were dancing at night!

Thanks again guys!
