Why I LOVE creating Wedding photography at Foxtail Barns
Wedding photography at Foxtail Barns is amazing as its one of my fav wedding venues to work at, as its essentially a beautiful playground for photography. The indoors spaces are fantastic to work with – particularly the orangery where the wedding ceremonies are held as the quality of light is just fantastic. Its like being outdoors…but indoors!
The dining area ( which doubles as the party space ) is equally as impressive, as the light spills in from the side, lighting up the roof detailing. Truly wedding breakfasts look incredible at Foxtail Barns.
There is something incredibly special about Foxtail Barns, and there’s two opportunities outside for amazing photography. In the daytime I usually jump in a buggy and whizz off to the driveway, where there’s a great bridge, wooded pathways and a vista that takes in the whole of the property.
There’s also the inner courtyard that I usually use in the evening so couples aren’t taken away from there wedding for too long, and it features a fairy light arch ( great in winter ) and a beautiful domed archway in the centre of the garden.
As your Foxtail Barns wedding photographer, my goal is to create images that are not only beautiful but also timeless. I like to contrast the storytelling elements like the ceremony and reception with some portraits which is often a great excuse for my couples to find some time to themselves during the wedding madness.
My aim is to produce images that will stand the test of time, and Foxtail Barns enables me to do that. As its self contained, if it rains then it doesn’t effect the photography at all especially the ceremony as I’ve shot weddings at Foxtail Barns in brutal rain storms and the photography is still beautiful.
I also love that we`ll probably be doing the confetti inside, which is a great way to kick off your married life! The photography looks excellent this way as there’s no pesky wind to blow the confetti away and every spec of confetti counts!
After the exit I always advise its straight to the bar to get the party started and I’ll use the drinks reception to capture documentary photography and subtly capture some treasured family portraits.

When it comes to quick family portraits I`ll usually capture these during the drinks reception, always sure never to steal my couples away from their wedding for too long.
And bridal portraits are captured in the onsite bridal room, which can contrast nicely with the social elements happening outside while a bride or groom are privately getting ready. I usually arrive two hours before the wedding ceremony which gives me plenty of time to capture those important wedding details and stories.
