What to do if there’s bad weather on your wedding day!?
Oh No – What to do if there`s bad weather on your wedding day!? Well, just relax – Birmingham Wedding Photographer Artisan X is here to give you some tips and advice to get some great Quirky wedding photos no matter what the weather throws at you!
I travel the world working with some awesome clients, and if its one thing I`ve learnt it is that you cannot control the weather! I`ve shot weddings in Scotland in Feb with blazing sunshine and blue skies, but also shot weddings in New York in June in torrential thunderstorms. Oh, mother nature you are so fickle!
So…what to do if its predicted rain on your wedding day? Firstly, do not panic. If you`ve booked a professional photographer, they`ll know what to do. You can create some Creative wedding photography with flashguns, coloured gels, and umbrellas. I always advise my clients to invest in some either see through or white umbrellas. Stay away from things with branding on them, or bright colours (unless that is your thing)!
Some of the best and different wedding photography images I’ve ever created have happened because I`ve had to improvise things and just ran with a creative idea – like this image where we did a Sparkler tunnel shot at Blackwell Grange in the rain! But it looks amazing!
Also bring some trash bags to pop on the ground so you can pop the dress on it if it’s a large dress so its not getting too muddy, and don’t be too proud to wear wellies or comfy shoes – it`ll make it easier for you to move around, saves your wedding shoes from being ruined, and your photographer can shot some quirky wedding photography angles to find them! Everybody wins.
If its windy is slightly trickier. Firstly it`ll be cold, so brace yourselves for that. Secondly it`ll mess with hair. Yes, that bridal hair you spent three hours getting done. So…I would advise just go for it! Lean into it and it`ll add some real drama to your wedding photography! Also, I have created some beautiful wedding photography where one partner has wrapped the other up in a massive cuddle, and it just looks like quite natural wedding photography.
Finally…snow. As a destination wedding photographer, I`ve dealt with this a lot, and you`ve just got to go for it! Making cute jumpers, blankets or hats part of your wedding apparel works well.
I’d advise compression clothing, and lots of layers, and it never hurts to keep a bottle of brandy close by to warm you up between shots.
