Thailand Wedding Photography – Chris Denner
All of my weddings are very special. But this was a very very special one. It took me approximately 24 hours travelling via three separate aero planes to arrive for this Thailand wedding photography adventure. I’d met Michelle and her mother at the Birmingham wedding show and immediately Michelle was drawn to my bright brash and emotional style of wedding photography. She said that she was having a wedding in Thailand at which point my little eyes lit up and I said that I would love to be a part of her destination wedding photography adventure. Michelle booked me and 18 months later I found myself on route to be a part of this Thailand wedding photography dream.
There resort was Silvadee and what a dream it was!
The wedding was actually on an island of Thailand called Ko Samui a beautiful island with some beautiful beaches five star resorts and a thriving nightlife. I’d arrived a few days before to get used to the time difference and the weather, and I’m really glad that I did as on the wedding day it was 42 degrees. That is some serious heat on a wedding day. But regardless of how hot the temperature was it was nothing compared to the heap of this wedding. Gary and Michelle had brought forty of their nearest and dearest with them for their Thailand wedding photography adventure, and as a wedding there were no barriers with anybody. People that had just met acted like best friends and I’ve genuinely never photographed the wedding with such good emotions and heartfelt honesty amongst the entire bridal party.
Truly I can say the everybody at Michelle and Gary’s wedding was having the absolute best time. This may have had something to do with all the alcohol that the couple had provided, or it may have had something to do with the amazing meal that we had served to us on the beach. The I honestly believe it was just down to Michelle and Gary inviting the right people to their wedding and those people just having an amazing time.
This was also the first wedding where I really got to use my drone for some drone wedding photography and I think it worked really well because it is hard to tell the story of a beach wedding in Koh samui without showing the beach.
I really enjoyed both the groom and bridal preparations on this wedding day, Gary and the boys drinking and finishing off their speeches contrasted nicely with Michelle getting ready with the girls as they drank bottle after bottle of prosseco. Michele’s father walking arm in arm with Michelle as they came onto the beach to huge applause and people whooping is something I’ll never forget for a second I thought I was at a festival not a wedding.
And quite honestly I expect if you asked Gary and Michelle what kind of wedding they wanted they would say that was the kind of wedding thereafter. It was a celebration of their relationship but equally of their friends family and those nearest and dearest to them.
The night event was epic with a fire show, and the bridesmaid grabbing the bands mic to sing to the wedding party!
Thank you Gary and Michelle for choosing me to accompany you on your Thailand wedding photography adventure. I absolutely loved it.
