Bride and groom

Rockingham Castle Wedding Photography

This was a wedding I’d been looking forward to for a long time. Katie and Andrew had actually found me on Instagram wedding photography, for their Rockingham Castle wedding photography, and they were after something very special and unique that included Andrews Scottish wedding themes.

And I obviously stood out amongst the cluttered Instagram imagery. I was excited to work with them, because, after our initial zoom call, they both struck me as high energy and very funny people.

Their interaction was bubbly. They didn’t take themselves too seriously. And particularly Katie was always laughing, Andrew seem to constantly be rolling his eyes. But Katie was always laughing.

In the run up to the wedding, the couple decided, like most couples, to go for a pre wedding shoot.

And we just had an absolute blast meeting them in person was so very different than meeting them for a zoom screen. And it calmed any nerves the couple had the feedback from the pre wedding shoot was just fantastic, and we were all in a really good place for their wedding at Rockingham castle.

The day rolls up, and I arrived for Katie’s bridal prep. And straightaway, it felt like going to a family reunion. Everybody was so welcoming and funny and gracious. That I just felt completely relaxed and hit the ground. Running. After working with Katie and the bridesmaids. We did a first look with Katie’s lovely father. And then it was over to the castle to catch up with Andrew, who was in full Scottish regalia.

Waiting outside the chapel on site and managed to get some really great documentary images of Andrew and his father, also in a kilt speaking to his grandmother on the phone, via video link, capturing moments and images like this are so important to me as a storyteller.

Katie arrived and I managed to capture some lovely imagery, contrasting her and a father against the castle. Katie breeze down the aisle for what was a surprisingly very emotional ceremony. I expected them both to giggle through most of the ceremony. But Katie seemed to be holding back tears for most of it. Andrew was stoic as usual. He really is her rock. As the couple exited, it was straight into drinks reception and some fun portraits on the lawn.

The day was lovely. It was overcast, but that gave us a lovely and beautiful quality of light to work with. After the speeches, we were granted permission to take the couple into the secret garden of Rockingham castle. Where I was able to capture some really intimate photography of the two of them. Capturing portraits like that is really important to me.

And I’m glad the couple had built that time into their wedding agenda. I really enjoyed this wedding so much. It was so much fun.

In some ways, it felt actually effortless and I think a lot of this is down to Mr. The Rockingham Estate, wedding coordinators efforts. Truly, she made a big difference on the day and I would highly recommend rocking castle for anybody planning a wedding. But don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what the lovely couple said. In a five star Google review they left for me –

“From first meeting Chris through a Zoom call, he has been a huge part of our wedding preparations and our wedding day. From our engagement photos to the candid shots on our wedding day, he has brought so much energy and fun to every part. He put all of our guests at ease straight away on the day, building an immediate relationship with people and getting everyone relaxed, even for our few formal shots. The pictures we’ve received so far are absolutely incredible and everyone we show them to is blown away. Thank you Chris for being such a integral part of our day and capturing our day and relationship in such a wonderful way”
