Greek wedding photography – Leyna & Giorgio
This is one of my first experiences of a large Greek wedding photography. Usually, I`m better known for my Birmingham Wedding photography, and I’ve done all kinds of different wedding photography all over the world. Lots of Greek wedding dancing photography!
But Giorgio and Leyna’s wedding was something very, very different. Somehow, it managed to be equally huge, yet equally intimate.
I’m not quite sure how they achieved that. But there was some really beautiful Greek wedding photography in this wedding. The couple have found me on Google, and after a zoom call booked me for their wedding.
In their initial contact with me, they described their wedding as the standard Big Fat Greek Wedding, which I thought was quite funny and shows some of the couple’s attitude towards their wedding.
They were taking it seriously. But clearly not that seriously. The wedding was in Birmingham and the day was a number of smaller events that linked into a bigger picture.
We’d started with the couple each receiving a blessing. Giorgio getting shaved as his tradition and then dancing. And then leaners entrance, where she had received her blessing. And then more dancing. Dancing was generally a big theme of the day.
After the dancing and the blessings, we went over to the Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Birmingham. A venue had never been to before, but it did take my breath away. Giorgio was already there with the boys. And Lena arrived, sweeping down the aisle with her father, Giorgio Looking very dapper in his white tuxedo. The ceremony was beautiful. Very different to my usual kind of ceremonies that I shoot. However, despite being watched by over 200 people, Leyna and Giorgio only added eyes for each other which was perfect for me as we captured some beautiful photography.
After the Greek wedding, it was over to the National Conference Centre. For an even bigger Greek wedding. There were tables upon tables of guests, everybody dancing and clapping and having a fantastic time.
After some short speeches, more dancing continued. There were the couples dance, families dance, and then the infamous money dance. Honestly, I’ve never really seen anything quite like it. And honestly, I don’t think I’ll ever see anything quite like it again.
It was one of those extreme days that it was brash but quite loud but intimate. And it really was only the kind of wedding that Lena and Giorgio would ever be able to pull off.
