Shustoke Farm Barns Wedding Photography – Aiden & Laura
Laura and Aiden had booked me for their Shustoke farm barns wedding photography after seeing me at the national wedding show in Birmingham. This was quite a big deal for me as it was the first show back post pandemic and I was understandably nervous as to whether or not people would feel comfortable to come out. Luckily Aidan and Laura were two of the first two people that I actually saw and both greeted me with huge smiles and enthusiasm, and that’s how we got to chatting about their Cripps barn wedding photography. Shustoke Barns is a venue I know well as it situated in Coleshill wedding photography and it’s a lovely renovated farm barn with lots of space for creative photography as well as lots of space for very elegant wedding photography really it supplies you with the best of both worlds. Very much like Aiden and Laura themselves. Aiden, he’s quite brash, loud and quite the character but Laura completely keeps him in check with her no nonsense attitude and huge smile. Needless to say I had quite the adventure with these two.
I started my day as I usually would with bridal and groom preparation and this was at a local hotel down the road, fitting myself in with Lauras bridesmaids for the morning I then met up with Aid at the bar where we got some really interesting angles with them trying to do ties, and button holes.
I really feel that this first hour to 90 minutes of any wedding is really crucial in setting the tone for the day and I already knew I was going to be howling with laughter with these two as they didn’t really seem to take much too seriously.
After photographing a really emotional bridesmaid first look I headed over to the Shustoke farm barns wedding photography to meet up with Aiden and the crew to chat to the registrar before the ceremony and await Laura’s arrival. She arrived with her father and we were straight into the ceremony with Laura sweeping down the aisle with a huge smile and Aiden just completely cracking up again.
It is really evident to anybody how much these two really, really love each other. After that we’re into the courtyard for the drinks reception and limited handful of formal photos. These two really wanted a very documentary approach to their wedding day and wanted it very relaxed and informal, and so they hired an amazing magician to keep their guests occupied while we rattled through a few formal photos of the couple had required.
I managed to get some really creative sun drenched portraits of the two of them with the car and then into the speeches where there was not a dry eye in the house as every speaker seemed to absolutely deliver absolutely beautifully well-crafted and emotional speeches, honestly I didn’t think the speeches could get any better.
They were surprised by singing waiters, and they tore it up! They finished with the dirty dancing song “Time of my life” and Lasura launched herself to be grabbed and held afloat by the groomsmen!
So after that it was some evening portraits as dusk had really set in and then it was into the obligatory cake cutting photo and the first dance where the dance floor kicked off immediately with lots of people throwing shapes. I feel I say this every time in regards to my clients but truly this was one of the best weddings I’ve ever photographed it had everything I look for in the wedding emotion, honesty, raw feelings and just two people and their love story.
