Nicky & Ash – June
Ash & Nicky decided to get married at one of my absolute favourite wedding locations – The Woodlands, Hothorpe Hall, Theddingworth!
They got married in June, and that was a great decision as we had some amazing weather for their day – bright, clear and most of all NO RAIN!
The lovely couple had seen me that the local wedding showcase that Hothorpe Hall host every six months, and it was really great seeing their plans come to fruition.
Nicky and Ash got ready separately onsite (in one of the lovely little bungalows) and this is always a great idea if that’s an option – it enables me to move around really easily to capture lots of different parts of the day without losing time with travelling.
The ceremony was outside, and it was just wonderful. Nicky was given away by her father and one of the wonderful things about getting married at the Woodlands is the LONGGGGGGG walk up to where the ceremony takes place, and it gives me lots of opportunity to capture every expression of both Bride & groom as it happens!
After the ceremony ( where mum grabbed a selfie ) the couple walked out as confetti was thrown EVERYWHERE we jumped straight into a drinks reception outside, before going in for the meal and speeches.
Afterwards I took the couple off for some portraits, and this is usually my preferred way of working as the wedding guests don’t miss the bride and groom and they are generally more chilled ( usually as more booze has been consumed ) and the summer light is a lot more forgiving.
I worked the first few portraits against the woodlands lovely gardens, and then used the grand nature of Hothorpe Hall for the last set of portraits as the light was setting.
I’m super happy with the portraits of the couple as I feel it really reflects their personality and relationship, as well as being able to inject some really creative ideas into the portraits as well.
All in all, definitely one of my favourite weddings this year. It was just so lovely. Everything just clicked.
