Marquee Wedding Photography
Now this is a marquee wedding to remember. Marquee wedding photography can be a little bit tricky, generally because it does depend on the quality of the marquee in all honesty, but for Sinead and Joe’s Day, they went all out. And it absolutely showed. It was in Rutland too, one of my fav spots in Leicester, and I love supplying some Rutland wedding photography, and summer wedding photography.
The couple had chosen the Exton Park estates in Rutland for their big day. For those that don’t know Rutland is a large area of Leicestershire that is generally farm rural and just really beautiful.
Sinead and Joe inquired with me about photographing their wedding as they were a referral from a previous client two years earlier, who’d got married at the West mill which I blogged about. After a zoom call, it was decided I was to shoot their wedding.
In the run up to the day we had a couple of zooms which in all honesty, were just nonsense. Sinead and Joe were just full of banter jokes. At times, I had to think to myself “Are they taking this seriously?” But that’s just who they are. They were a couple that wanted fun on their wedding day and their wedding day delivered.
I do remember arriving at Sinead Father’s house to start the bridal prep and just walking in and immediately laughing, howling, joking, everybody was loud, funny, welcoming, hilarious. I honestly hit the ground running with this wedding I fitted into this wedding like Lego bricks just meant to work together. Having shot some beautiful first dad looks and bridal prep photos, I headed over to the estate where I hooked up with Joe and his groomsmen, and again the jokes and the banter was just flowing.
Surprisingly Joe was a little nervous pre ceremony and his little daughter was a gorgeous bridesmaid and very nearly stole the show.
Finally it was time Sinead had arrived. Everybody was in the estates chapel, and Sinead could not wait to marry Joe. She charged down the aisle, at one point leaving her father behind, her arms in the air their triumph! I’ve honestly never seen a bride’s entrance so full of energy. It was hilarious.
The ceremony itself was funny, touching and emotional. Afterwards, we got the couple out and did my customary confetti shot. Those that know anything about me know that I love a great confetti photo. I was very lucky on the day we have beautiful weather and I was able to steal the couple back into the chapel just for a couple of discreet portraits.
Then it was into the drink’s reception. The drink was flowing. The jokes were flowing, and the banter was flying left and right. It was fantastically funny. I managed to sneak the copper off for a couple of quick portraits just the two of them but what I was most interested in at this time was portraits of the two of them with Joe’s daughter who was just a delight to work with. I’m proud of the portraits I’ve got of the three of them. Not your usual typical wedding behaviour.
Then we’re into the marquee and stray straight into speeches, which is my favourite way of doing it. The father of the bride set the tone for the speeches when he revealed that during Sinead university years, the most important thing she learned was how to fit her fist inside her mouth. Which at that point, amid lots of laughter from the guests, Sinead jumped up and proved that she could in fact do it.
That just sums up this wedding to me. At times, it was just so personal and so intimate, but over time so blunt and different. You just didn’t know what you’re gonna get. As the evening wore on. We got some beautiful sun sunsets, and I managed to sneak the couple away for some custom report rates and then it was straight into the band.
By which point the party I’ve already started hours previously and the dance floor went off like a stick of dynamite.
This is literally one of those weddings, I will honestly never forget.
