Ellie & Alex – Brassmead Barns
So, this was a very special wedding for me, as not only were Ellie & Alex awesome clients but I’d really connected with them during their wedding photography pre-shoot where they brought their dogs.
Unfortunately, between that shoot and the wedding day they lost one of them, and they were really, really thankful for the doggy wedding pre-shoot. It really set us up for the wedding day amazingly.
Ellie & Alex booked me on the spot at the National Wedding Show at the NEC last February, as the couple were after some really creative wedding photos for their big day and loved my documentary style wedding photography, so I was booked!
So, Bassmead Barns venue was booked to hold their entire wedding at, and I do love all of the Cripps Barn’s locations. This venue is just great as there’s loads of room to work, bridal accommodation suites, bar areas, barn areas, ceremony room, and just beautiful grounds.
We were blessed with some amazing weather during their day, apart from it being super blowy, and the wedding ceremony and reception was super emotional in the venue’s barn.
It’s such a great location to work in.
The couple were very at ease during the day, laughing and joking with friends and family, and so when it came to their portraits, it was super easy as the couple didn’t want to do anything too posed.
Lily (the couple’s dog) showed up too – she’s such a little tinker she tried to steal Ellie’s flowers lol!
I was able to convince the couple to try a few dynamic images to compliment the more candid portraits and thankfully they ended up loving them! I love shooting these alternative kinds of portraits that challenge the couple’s perceptions, and I’m super happy with the results!
The rest of the wedding was in my usual favourite style of relaxed, which meant that I could bring out some well seen observational wedding photography, and the couple LOVE that too! The couple had structured their day so there was a lot of drinks reception time, which gave me loads of opportunity to sneak around like a photo ninja and grab photography of people just being themselves, completely unnoticed.
I’m really happy with the images that I captured with the bridal party – Unposed and fun with great quality of expression, and these photos contrast nicely with the pre ceremony images I caught with Ellie and her dad which were super emotional.
The evening portraits I captured with the couple I’m super doper proud off. Winter photography is always a challenge, but we were able to create some super fun photos. The bridge at Bassmead is perfect for night photography as its covered in fairy lights – super!
