Amy & Arron – Blackwell Grange
So, this was a very special wedding for me, as I know the groom very well – we’ve lifted weights together at the same gym for the last three years, so it was a bit odd being so familiar with my clients!
So, as we were training one day Aaron started picking my brains about weddings, and the penny dropped that he’d gotten engaged. The couple were after some really creative Wedding Photography for their wedding day and loved my documentary style wedding photography, so I was booked!
Aaron & Amy had booked Blackwell Grange to hold their entire wedding at. The venue is great as there’s loads of room to work, bridal suites, bar areas, common areas, ceremony room, and just beautiful grounds.
We were blessed with some amazing weather during their day (I was shooting the day before and it literally was wraith of god style rain), and the ceremony and reception was super emotional in the venue’s barn. It’s such a great location to work in.
The couple were very at ease during the day, laughing and joking with friends and family, and so when it came to their portraits, it was super easy as the couple didn’t want to do anything too posed.
I was able to convince to try a few dynamic images to compliment the more candid portraits and thankfully they ended up loving them! I love shooting these alternative kinds of portraits that challenge my couple’s perceptions, and I’m super happy with the results!
The rest of the wedding was in my usual favourite style of relaxed; which meant that I could bring out some well seen observational wedding photography, and the couple LOVE it! The couple had structured their day so there was a lot of drinks reception time, gave me loads of opportunity to sneak around like a photo ninja and grab photography of people just being themselves, completely unnoticed.
I’m really happy with the images that I captured with Aaron and the lads pre ceremony (the ushers were all lads I mostly knew from the gym) Unposed, fun with great quality of expression, and these photos contrast nicely with the pre ceremony images I caught with Karen.
The evening portraits I captured with the couple I’m super doper proud off. Winter photography is always a challenge, but we were able to create some super fun photos.
