Hannah & Tommy – Pendrell Hall
Hannah and Tommy had booked Pendrell Hall as their dream wedding location and given that theirs was a summer autumn crossover wedding they honestly could not have picked a nicer spot to hold their wedding celebrations.
As Tommy served in the armed forces and was often away for months at a time the bulk of the wedding planning had been left to Hannah luckily she had a clear vision of what she wanted to create for her wedding day and booking me was one of the things that she was most keen on doing the full stop I’d met Hannah and her bridal party at the Birmingham NEC wedding show and we clicked instantly as she was looking for something that was natural candid creative and above all documentary.
She actually said to me that Tommy is very self-conscious and just wouldn’t react well to having a camera stuck in his face so the fact that my approach is more laid back and relaxed really resonated with her.
The couple decided to get married in Pendrell Hall’s library room as its more intimate and it is one of my favourite wedding rooms to get married in as people all placed in such a way that nobody can see the bride or the groom or any of the bridal party before they enter. I really like this approach as it’s a complete surprise for everybody and usually I am down the end of the aisle facing the top of the room so essentially I’m usually the first person in that room to see anybody walking down that aisle.
Hannah often joked that it would be Tommy that cried during the ceremony but it was actually the reverse and tears flowed from Hannah. I think in some of the photography she seemed quite frustrated that it was actually her that was crying and not Tommy as i think she expected to rinse him about it afterwards. After the wedding ceremony the couple exited through the front of the property which naturally lends itself to an awesome confetti photo and that it was straight into the drinks reception a part of the day that I really enjoy as I really like to dig deep into the soul of the wedding and capture all the moments of people loving laughing kissing crying drinking hugging and generally just chit chatting as everyone enjoys the wedding day.
Before the speeches kicked off I managed to grab Hannah and Tommy for a couple of quick photos just in the back lawn nothing too overcooked as the couple really didn’t want to be taken away from their wedding for too long and this is an approach that I 100% agree with.
